Recovery varies by individual, but most patients start walking with assistance the day after surgery and return to normal activities in 6 weeks. Full recovery can take up to 6 months.

Yes, physical therapy is a vital part of the recovery process, helping you regain strength and mobility. In general, 3 to 6 weeks of physical therapy are needed.

As with any surgery, there are risks, but we minimize them through advanced surgical techniques and comprehensive postoperative care. The doctor will inform you of the risks during your pre-op visit.

If you meet the criteria, surgery may be scheduled within 4 weeks of your pre-op appointment. Ideally, it would be best if you planned to stay in Tenerife for 2 months after surgery but you could be fit to fly after 1-2 weeks.

This service is focused on individuals who already have a diagnosis from their doctor and usually should already have the diagnostic tests that indicate it. However, at the hospital we can perform new tests to confirm the diagnosis and surgical recommendations. We advise you to bring all your x-rays and tests to the appointment.

Hip Arthroplasty treatment includes pre-op diagnostic tests, Surgery, anesthesia, state-of-the-art Prosthesis, 5-10 days hospitalization, in-patient physical therapy and est. 4 weeks of out-patient physical therapy sessions, and follow-up consultations with Dr Wilches.
